4 Ways to Make Money With Amazon

Did you know that there are actually four ways to make money with Amazon? Most of you are probably familiar with their affiliate program. But there are three other ways that involve eCommerce, website advertising (or ads) video and, believe it or not, t-shirts. What I’m going to do in this post is go over all of the options. So let’s get started!

1.) FBA or Fulfillment by Amazon

make money with amazon The first option is one that’s been picking up a lot of steam lately and it’s called Amazon FBA or Fulfillment by Amazon. How FBA works is that you decide what you want to sell and then Amazon packages and ships it to your customers. They ship the products to your customers and I’ve created a simple graphic here that better explains how it works.

You store products in Amazon’s fulfillment centers. These centers are popping up everywhere! There’s one literally five minutes from my house. When a customer makes an order Amazon packages and delivers the product from the fulfillment center. And products that are eligible for Amazon Prime will be shipped in two days with free shipping! So when you see that Amazon Prime or when you’re ordering something with your Prime membership that’s what is happening.

The Key To FBA

Now the key to making this work is number one figuring out what to sell. There are even tools out there that will help you do the research and discover what people search for on Amazon.com. You also have to decide how much storage space you need. You do have to pay for that space so there’s definitely a learning curve to making this work. And while there are people making five figures per month with Amazon FBA there’s still a lot of trial and error. Plus it takes money to make money especially with Amazon FBA. I mention Rob’s article because I love it when internet marketers keep it real about what it takes to be successful. A lot of people act like making money online is all about unicorns, rainbows and bubblegum and it’s not. It’s work and don’t let anyone tell you differently. If it were that easy everyone in your family and all of your friends would be full or part-time entrepreneurs. I mean who doesn’t want to work in their PJs right? So even if that money is just investing in your website you still have to be prepared to invest time and money.


2.) Amazon Associate or Affiliate Program

The second option to make money with Amazon is what most of you are probably familiar with and that’s the Amazon associate or affiliate program. So how this program works. You link to Amazon products in your blog posts or your web pages and when somebody buys you get a commission. How does Amazon know somebody bought through you? Your links have tracking IDs in them. All of this is automated. It’s not like it’s someone sitting in a basement tracking the sales with a button or anything like that. All of this is automated and this is called affiliate marketing and it’s my favorite way to earn online.

Now Amazon’s commissions are pretty low and they start around 3% but Amazon is very very trustworthy. It’s just a brand that people trust and they tend to buy way more than you recommend so that will help with your sales totals. About 70% of my earnings come from random products that I didn’t promote. Just to give you a point of reference to make $522 I had to generate over 10,000 clicks and 380 orders. But I use Amazon because there aren’t affiliate programs anywhere else for these products so it’s better than earning nothing.

Amazon also pays you when people sign up for their free services like Amazon Prime trials and that’s where $33 of my $522 came from last month. Bounty’s means those are Amazon’s free trial services generally they also reward you for the volume of sales. The more you sell the higher your affiliate Commission goes and the higher your affiliate percentage goes. So making money with Amazon is all about volume. 3.) Amazon Video Direct

make money with amazonThe third way that you can make money with Amazon is Amazon Video Direct. This was created to rival the YouTube Partner Program. But I’ve honestly not heard many success stories coming from this method. The way that it works is you upload videos, movie shorts and or courses and you earn royalties based on how many times your videos are streamed and how your video is accessed. For example you can make your videos available for free to people who are Amazon Prime members and make royalties on the views.

Now unlike YouTube they have very specific quality guidelines for uploads and your videos must have a closed caption script. And if you don’t know how to create a closed caption script for video there are services out there like Rev.com that charge one dollar for every minute of the video. They have a very very quick turnaround. I did use them once and it worked out very, very well. Just to test it out I uploaded one video a few months ago and so far this week, get ready, I earned a whopping 12 cents!


Look out y’all if I upload just four thousand videos or so I’ll be set. But honestly I think it’s about figuring out what types of videos work best and being in the right niche. You have to remember people browse Amazon much differently than they browse YouTube so certain topics may perform better than others. 4.) Merch by Amazon

how to make money with amazonThe last way you can earn with Amazon is through a program called Merch by Amazon. Merch is short for merchandise and it is very very similar to SpreadShirt. You upload a design that you create in Photoshop or whatever, add it to a shirt and when it’s sold you get a royalty. Amazon handles all the printing and the shipping you just focus on the designs. The biggest difference from all the other print-on-demand sites is you have to get approved for the program and it could take up to 12 months or more.

I submitted an application about two months ago and I haven’t heard anything yet. But one of my friends just told me that she was accepted after four and a half months. So it definitely varies. She also mentioned that they were backlogged with all of their submissions so hopefully they’re going to get a little bit more speedy with that. This is gonna be an awesome article if you want to learn how to do affiliate marketing! Why? Because I’m going to share with you some key points that I wish I knew when I started in affiliate marketing. Now let’s get into this because I have some very key points that I want to share with you that I honestly I wish I took seriously. I wish I knew these when I started with affiliate marketing so let’s go.

What I Wish I Knew

Number One

affiliate marketingNothing is as simple as it seems. You may see a lot of six and seven figure earners in this industry called affiliate marketing but know that they were not “overnight successes”. Right now I am making a very significant amount of money. But let me tell you something, it’s not as as simple as it seems. What I mean by that is I’m not saying that the process isn’t simple to create a life changing income with affiliate marketing.

But although the process is very simple getting to where you want to go will take work. If you want financial freedom and beyond and to change your life situation, the work is going to be difficult. I want you to understand that and it’s gonna be more difficult than you think. Again this doesn’t mean the process of how it all works is that complex, it’s very simple. But understand that you’re gonna have to work your butt off to get where you want to go. This leads us into:

Number Two

affiliate marketingEmbrace delayed gratification. When I first started out I think that I honestly I had false expectations with affiliate marketing. False expectations as to how much money I was gonna make and how fast I was gonna make that money. That is something that you see all the time in this this entire make money online affiliate marketing business.

You see other top income earners sharing very simple strategies with you but you have to understand a few things. First of all you know the strategies are very simple but again if we bring it back to tip number one, or what I wish I knew, just because the process is simple doesn’t mean the journey is going to be easy.

It still may be hard to get where you want to be. This is one of the hardest things for people to understand. Even for me when I first started. I got very frustrated that I didn’t get the instant results that I wanted immediately. So there is a type of delayed gratification that is required if you want to create success online. Actually that is why most people quit because they don’t understand delayed gratification.

The thing is if you can understand this you’ll start to take action knowing that the results will come in the future. It may not be tomorrow it may not be next week it may not be in two or three months down the road. But if you have a vision and you know where you want to go and the potential of how much you can earn that should be a driving factor enough to keep you going.

Number Three

affiliate marketingI wish I knew when I first started not to pay for ads until I knew how to run them. I ran ads here and there for two or three years without actually learning exactly what I needed to do. That resulted in me losing money on ads. One to two thousand dollars at least, spread out over time.

I would try ads and then I’d back out. Then I’d try ads and they weren’t profitable and I’d back out. So what do I wish I would have done looking back at it now? I would tell myself and what I would tell you is don’t jump into advertising if you don’t know what you’re doing. Advertising can absolutely explode your business but it can also sink your business and eat up all of your money.

If you have no idea what you’re doing my advice to you would be to wait. Also if you want to start building and growing your business with paid advertising first of all make sure that you have a budget. If you do not have the money to be spending on ads do not put money into them. You’re gonna have to lose a little bit of money in order to figure out what works with advertising to make ads profitable. So if you don’t have the money to invest and lose, knowing that you can make a lot more back, don’t run ads.

The second thing with ads is that you should invest into yourself. There are plenty of courses that you can invest in out there that will teach you exactly what to do with paid advertising. I know that some people would say there’s free content on YouTube teaching me how to do it.

That’s true and you know what, if you don’t have money to invest in a course then absolutely go to YouTube and learn how to use ads and how to run advertising. But my recommendation is to save up and then when you have money invest in a course. Because a course is all of the knowledge boxed up for you usually step by step. So you can know exactly what to do with paid advertising.

Number Four

affiliate marketingI wish I knew that I should be taking ten times the amount of action of what I did when I started. Over the last few months my business has skyrocketed. Now I’ve been doing online marketing, affiliate marketing for almost three years now. In the last four or five months I’ve made more probably two, three or four times, maybe even more, than I did in two and a half years. I believe one of the main reasons this has happened is because I took ten times the amount of action. Here’s what I mean by this.

Right now I’m doing YouTube videos and I do I do email marketing. I do have a blog but I’m not active on it because I’m focusing on one thing. This is gonna lead us into another point here in just a minute. But here’s what I would tell you. Whatever you think that you need to be doing in whatever way that you’re marketing your business you need to double or triple your efforts.

This is true if you’re using video marketing and/or you’re doing blog posts or whatever the case may be. Let’s take blog posts for an example. If you’re growing your business with blogging, that is how you’re creating your content, then I would recommend you double your efforts. If you’re thinking I’m gonna post two blog posts a week I would tell you double your efforts. So don’t do two blog posts do four.

If you’re doing video marketing and you’re doing videos on YouTube and you plan to put up two videos a week on YouTube I would double it. Double down on your business because affiliate marketing has changed my life and it changes so many other people’s lives. And here’s the cool thing about it, anybody can do it! You absolutely can change your life with affiliate marketing and grow an online business.

Do you want to do it slowly or do you want to do it fast? The way that you’re gonna be able to do it fast is literally by sprinting towards your goals. Also sprinting towards your dreams which means taking massive action. Doing something every single day to move your business forward. When I first started I did not do this. Let me explain to you one of the biggest things that I did wrong. Also that so many other people do, maybe you do the same thing if you’re brand new and that is take in all this information and never apply anything.

So here’s the difference between people who become successful with affiliate marketing and the ones who simply wish they would become successful. You need to change your mindset of being a consumer to being a producer. From consuming content on an everyday basis. Now it’s okay to take in a certain amount but you don’t want to spend all of your time consuming content. You want to consume content but then double down on twice the time you were consuming for content creating. Content and producing content is how you move your business forward.

Number Five

affiliate marketingThis really is a big thing because I really think this delayed my success and that of so many other people who are trying to create success in affiliate marketing or growing an online business.

Focusing on one marketing strategy and just one marketing strategy. I kind of already touched on this but if you’re doing YouTube videos focus on YouTube. Don’t say okay I’ll create YouTube videos and then I’m gonna go over to Facebook and then I’m gonna write a blog post. Don’t do all of these different things. Focus on one thing and let me explain to you why. I know that some people might disagree with this but let me explain something to you.

If you don’t have results in any of your marketing strategies or you don’t have the results that you desire right now you need to double down or triple down on whatever that strategy is that you know you can do more of. If you’re a good writer and you’re not very good on video you need to double down on writing and blogging or whatever written form you’re using. And if you are good on video or you’re good at making videos. Maybe you’re even doing screencasts where you just record your screen. If you’re good at that double and triple down on that.

Now I want to explain to you that this is only if you don’t have the desired results now. Obviously if you have the income results that you want and the business growth that you want absolutely feel free branch out into other ways to grow your business. But here’s the thing, most people are not where they want to be. And they’re not getting the results that they want. Their business isn’t at the income level that they want.

That’s where you stick to one thing until you get the results you want. Believe me if you just have that mindset, that I’m gonna do this until I get the results that I want, it will happen for you. You just have to hang in there and double, triple down and take massive action. You can get there, trust me.

Welcome to an introduction to WordPress – from beginner to intermediate to advanced users.
If you’re a beginner or someone who doesn’t want to write code you will learn the
fundamentals of using the WordPress back-end to create pages, posts and navigation menus.
Learn these basic settings and then you can combine that later with pre-existing themes and
plugins to create your own websites.

However, for our intermediate to advanced users we’re gonna roll up our sleeves and learn how
to create a theme from scratch which means we’re going to begin with zero files, zero lines of
code and we’re going to write everything together. That way you can really learn how to bend
WordPress to your will and get it to do whatever you need it to do.N ow before we get started
let’s spend about a minute to review what WordPress is and why we’re so excited to be using it.

What is WordPress?

Well WordPress is a free open-source web publishing system which is just
another way of saying it’s a free tool to help you build websites.

Who uses WordPress

Perhaps you’ve heard that it’s used by small businesses or for personal blogs. But it’s also used
by governments, schools, nonprofits and fortune 500 companies! Which means WordPress is for
everyone .

It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’re trying to achieve with your website there’s a good
chance that WordPress can help you. Not only can WordPress help you but the community
surrounding WordPress can also help you. It is a massive community somewhere between
17% to almost 20% of all web sites on the internet are powered by WordPress. That’s almost
one in five!

Now I can explain later why that’s an amazing statistic that we should all be excited
about and that we all benefit from. But for now just know that a lot of people use WordPress
and finally the greatest strength of WordPress at least in my opinion is the attitude surrounding

There’s a very can-do, self empowered, helpful, let’s keep things simple but remember that we
can achieve anything attitude attached to WordPress and I absolutely love it.

WordPress Dashboard

You’ll also WordPressI want to share some of that love for WordPress with you and get you started. Let’s dive right in starting with the WordPress dashboard. hear this referred to as the WordPress admin or the WordPress back-end. You can think of this as home base. This is where you administer your website. This is where you create posts and pages so on and so forth.

Now it’s important to point out that the general public, the people that view your website, cannot and will not see this back end or this dashboard. Only you as the site owner or site content contributor will see this. So if you imagine it’s the year 1950 and we’re running a newspaper. The general public doesn’t see the printing press or the offices where you’re journalists work. They only see the front facing newspaper. In this case the public only sees our website the way that we construct it.

Inside WordPress

The WordPress back-end looks relatively the same for all WordPress websites. And it’s where the content creators work to add content to the website and administer the website. I think that’ll make more sense here in just a moment.

For example if we click “posts” in the left hand menu we see a list of news post titles. One reads how to assess website analytics. Another one is titled tutorial demo files posted and you can tell right away that this is not how a public facing website will be laid out. This is not interesting or captivating in any way this is only for the site owners and content contributors. These are the existing posts on the website so we can click on one if we want to begin to edit it. This is very similar to a word processing program. We can bold certain text, make it italic. We can add new text and then when we’re done we can simply click update and we just saved an update to a post.

Creating New Content

So that’s how simple it is to edit existing content with WordPress. Now let’s take a look at how easy it is to create new content altogether. If we go back to the post screen we can see a list of our existing items. If we click the add new button we can simply provide a title to a new example post. And then you just add in a bit of content in the body section. Then you can choose a category.

If you’d like to you can choose between article or news or we can even add a new category. Then just click the publish button. That’s it you just saved a new article and it will now show up on our front facing website. And that’s really the heart and soul of the WordPress back-end. You can edit existing content and create new content. Now there are different types of content so for example we were dealing with posts. However let’s take a very quick look at pages.

WordPress Pages

The best way to describe pages is to simply contrast them with posts because the two are very similar but there’s a key difference. Let’s say for example we ran a blog or a news based website.

Most of our content would live within posts because we want this constant stream of content flowing through our website. However we still might have a few static pillars in our website like an About Us page, History page or Contact Us page. When I just used the word static to describe pages that doesn’t mean that they’re locked in place or that you can’t edit them. For example if we click on About Us we can edit this page. We can make this text bold, we can add new paragraphs and then click the Update button. The content isn’t fixed in the sense that it can’t be changed it’s a bit more subtle than that.

What we really mean is that posts are usually displayed in reverse chronological order so the newest posts are at the top. If you think of a news website but pages aren’t really part of a stream or river of content they’re sort of independent timeless in a way. That’s what we mean when we say fixed or static. But aside from that you can see that pages and posts are nearly identical. You provide a title and then a bit of content you can update and save them. Posts and pages are really the heart and soul of WordPress. So in a sense you’ve already just learned how to use WordPress, it’s that simple. But you might be thinking okay so there’s posts and pages is that it? Is that all WordPress is and if it is why is WordPress so insanely popular? Why do people make such a big fuss over it?

WordPress Options

To address those questions or that series of concerns I will say this, yes the core of WordPress really is that simple. But the core is also very powerful and very easy to extend and customize. For example out-of-
the-box WordPress only comes with posts and pages. You can have a news section and then a few static pages but what if you wanted a completely separate part of your website. Like to have recipes for dinners, desserts, meal ideas. Well you can see in the sidebar that you have a custom post type named recipes and that if I click that you get all this entirely different content.

Beef stew, feta chicken salad, blackberry pie, potato salad, chocolate cake and you can see that we can even use different categories or different taxonomy systems. We can categorize the meals as chicken or dessert or dinner. And these categories are entirely separate from the categories that we use for the news or blog section of our website. If we click on one like potato salad you can see that it looks just like a post or a page. You can add content like here’s where the ingredients go, here’s where the instructions go. But it would be very easy to adjust some of the settings in WordPress so that when you’re editing a recipe there’s another field down here that says recipe rating. And you can choose between one to five stars.

WordPress – More Options

And then there could be another field called recommendation and we would say whether we actually recommend this recipe or not. So the point is that you could have any number of fields. In addition to just this main body text field and you can have those fields only display for certain content types.

Which means WordPress isn’t limited to just posts and pages. yes that’s what it starts with out of the box but WordPress is only limited by your imagination. We could create other custom content types in addition to recipes. We could create restaurant reviews, photo galleries, slideshows, chefs corner with interviews. Whatever your imagination can think of you can really extend and customize WordPress to help you keep it organized dynamic and easily accessible to the public.

WordPress Diversity

If you remember we discussed that only the admin or the site owner sees this dashboard. Whereas the public sees something different, they see the actual website. Now the reason I didn’t show you what the website looks like is because I don’t want you to have any preconceived notions of what a quote WordPress website looks like. There’s a lot of people that think that all WordPress websites look the same or that they have some cookie cutter formula. But I’m here to tell you that they don’t need to be that way and that largely they’re not that way.

WordPress does not place any restrictions on how your website should look. The only reason some WordPress websites feel cookie cutter or maybe they look the same is because a certain theme has become very popular. A theme is what controls the public facing portion of your website. It’s what your audience sees. Again you as the admin see the dashboard when you’re editing your website and the public sees what the theme outputs. So the theme says okay on the home page there should be five news posts then there should be five recipes and three restaurant reviews. It should use these colors and these background images and this is how it should look and function. That’s the role of the theme.

WordPress Community

Now remember earlier when we said that the WordPress community was huge and it’s also filled with people who share their work. So imagine if someone who’s a developer created a really useful theme and then half a million or a million people started using that theme. Well at that point you can start to understand why some people might say WordPress websites look cookie cutter. Because they’ve seen thousands or even millions of websites using the exact same theme. But I’m here to remind you that it’s up to each site owner to choose what their website looks like and how it functions.

It’s not WordPress fault that certain themes become incredibly popular. It’s actually helpful to move beyond themes and look at WordPress as more of a tool. WordPress is really just a tool that stores information in a database for you that makes that data easy to manipulate, easy to query, easy to present to the public. You can leverage your own html, css, javascript and php code to output whatever you want to output.

Now the beautiful part is that there’s no right or wrong way to put together a WordPress website. If you want to use a free theme, you can. You want to buy a premium theme, you can. If you want to design and craft and code your own theme from scratch, you can. There’s no right or wrong way and that’s what makes WordPress so unbelievably amazing. It’s this huge community of people all using the same platform but they all use it in their own different way. They share advice and resources and tips and tutorials.

Fourth, you have got to support stuff.

Did you know that Google now owns YouTube? This is just one reason why you should start incorporating videos into your marketing methods. According to research a video can easily reach 84% of the U.S. population who have an internet connection.

Other statistics state that any type of web page that has a video on it is fifty times more likely to reach the first page of Google. Can you imagine what that could do for your business?

When you send out an email try using the word Video in the subject line – you should see an increase in your open rates. The downside to this is that you cannot embed a video into your autoresponder service. But what you can do is to create a thumbnail or image, that when clicked opens in a new tab with the video playing.

Videos are perfect for landing pages as well. These videos don’t have to be long. You just want to incorporate enough information to intrigue your viewer to want to know more. This will get them to opt in to your list where you can send them further information.

Videos are also easy to create. You can easily create a basic video using tools such as PowerPoint, Camtasia or any screen capture type of program. Of course you can just use your webcam to record yourself speaking and save it as a video.
